Everything isn’t INSTANT and some things just can’t be fixed with a talk or a meeting. Some things, especially “high quality things”, take time. Sometimes it takes a process; a development plan to create the excellence you are striving for. Processing may include things like: joining a book club, taking a course on-line, going to a series of conferences, hiring a coach or consultant, creating a mandatory leadership training course for your leaders, being more intentional about staff training and development, team building exercises or just sitting at the feet of people with more experience than you and learning. Regardless of the process you choose, you need plan. Plan your work and then work your plan. Those who fail to plan, plan to fail. Most leaders who can’t let go and delegate have trust issues with the people they have empowered. If you are convinced that a person is well trained and qualified, you can trust them with duties and responsibilities. If you doubt their abilities, you can’t release or empower them. So where do we begin? We begin by creating the process. Create the plan, the developmental plan: join that group, sign up for that on-line training course, order that book, just start- start today. If you procrastinate, you may talk yourself out of it. Start the process and then TRUST THE PROCESS.
