Have you ever thought about goodness and mercy following you?
Psalms 23:6 says, “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the LORD forever.”
Another translations say’s it this way: “Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will live in the house of the LORD forever.”
This past week, this scripture has flooded my heart. Think about it: God’s mercy & goodness follows us ALL the days of our life. Just incase you don’t know what mercy is…
Mercy is getting what you don’t deserve. The dictionary’s definition is: “compassionate or an act of kindness and favor; the discretionary power of a judge to pardon someone from judgment.
Goodness: moral excellence; virtue; kindness; generosity, excellence of quality, the best part of anything; essence; strength.
This scripture is powerful in 2 ways:
1. God is always compassionate, full of kindness and giving us what we don’t deserve. His goodness (the best part of anything) his strength and generosity are giving us blessings everyday.
2. If goodness and mercy follows us; then we should be leaving trails of blessings EVERYWHERE we go. We should be generous in grace and mercy and showing kindness to everyone we meet.
*** No matter what you are going through right now, God’s promises hold true, they NEVER disappoint. Lean into Him, Trust Him, Rely on His Word. He will fight for you, protect you, deliver you, love you and never leave you. HE IS FAITHFUL WHO PROMISED!
