LOVE is the most powerful force in the universe. People have fought wars, ran into burning buildings and put their lives on the line in the name of love. “Love never fails,” according to 1 Corinthians 13:8.
During this season of love, we must remind everyone that we surrounded by love in the family of God. This can be a very lonely and depressing time for people who feel alone in life. Even though we associate Valentines season with romance and cupid cards, we must remember that St. Valentine was not a married man. As a matter of fact, there wasn’t just one St. Valentine there were many. The name comes from a Latin word “valens” which means worthy, strong and powerful. It was a title given to several bishops who loved so hard, they were martyred for their faith. Yes, we love our candle light, soft music and chocolates, but a season of love should be shared with everyone we love. It should reach out to singles, to college students away from home, to the elderly who are homebound, to the widow and widower who are grieving. In the body of Christ we are surrounded by love. I would suggest you throw a dinner party and fill up your table with friends and family that you love. Celebrate love with food, laughter, stories and hugs. Remember it’s a season that simply reminds us to take the time and show our love to those who fill up our heart -every day of the year.
