Generosity is the habit of giving without expecting anything in return. Here at Twin Rivers, we often say, “We want to be the most generous church in our city!” We give away our sermon CD’s & DVD’s, coffee, sermon notes and mints every week. We often have outreaches to reach the hurting in our city as well. It’s our desire that everyone in our church have a spirit of generosity. Jesus said “As He is, so are we in this world.” He was and is the most generous person who ever lived. Below are some scriptures on generosity:
Proverbs 19:17 ESV – Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will repay him for his deeds.
2 Corinthians 9:6 – Remember this—a farmer who plants only a few seeds will get a small crop. But the one who plants generously will get a generous crop.
Proverbs 11:24-25 NLT – Give freely and become more wealthy; be stingy and lose everything. The generous will prosper; those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed.
Generosity is inspiring. It captures people’s attention more than nothing else does. I challenge you this year to stretch yourself to be generous to your church, your family and to those in your community. You might just inspire a revolution!
