Dry places can be divine appointments. God does his best work in the desert. It’s where Moses was called. It’s where David developed his skills. It’s where Jacob was changed to Israel. It’s where John the Baptist did ministry. And it’s where Jesus overcame the Devil. Sometimes God separates us from the things that distract us so we will cling to Him. It’s in these barren seasons that we cry out to God and He scoops us up and holds us. We gaze into His face, get lost in His presence, get filled up with His words and grow in His arms.
Isaiah 35:1-4
The wilderness and the wasteland shall be glad for them, And the desert shall rejoice and blossom as the rose; It shall blossom abundantly and rejoice,Even with joy and singing…They shall see the glory of the Lord, The excellency of our God. Strengthen the weak hands, And make firm the feeble knees. Say to those who are fearful- hearted, “Be strong, do not fear! Behold, your God will come….He will come and save you.”
